L´ombre et le vent de l´est الظل والحرور "Shadow & Sun Full Heat"

The importance of shade in the contrast between the sunny spots and the shaded spots indicates a miracle of Allah in terms of His creatures which we should not overlook. The shade is an inspiration of the meaning of order of creation from word “Be”. The shades thereof represent a great creation. The divine light cannot be perceived by human eyes. Darkness without light is black and nil. The shade is the most moderate condition. It represents mercy and paradise blessings. Different places become populated thanks to the shades. Creatures understand from its movement the meaning of existence and from its quietness the blessing of work and from its vanishing the wisdom of death. The sagacious people have understood the singleness of Allah who created shade. The shade becomes non-existent if its origin comes from two sources (Had there been within them (i.e. the heavens and the earth), gods besides Allah, they both would have been ruined. So, exalted is Allah, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe) (Surat Al-Anbiya’: 22).

"Shadow & Sun Full Heat"

Modern science had confirmed that shine is the origin of color and it is an electromagnetic ray that is visible in some places and invisible in others. The great natural sources of shine are the sun and other stars because it is automatically emitted from them as the Almighty Allah stated in Yunus (Jonah) Surah {verse: 5}: "It is He who made the sun a shining thing and the moon as a light".

Almighty Allah the most wise had distinguished between shine and light as shine is comes directly from its source while light is the reflected shine on dark bodies such as moon and planets

Shadow is founded from the shine. The explainers of the Holy Koran stated that shadow is the shade and its plural is "shades" or "shadows" such as the tree shade. Shade stated in the Holy Koran six times while the words "shade, its shade, shadily, its shades, their shades, its shade, shade, and we shaded" were stated eighteen times.

Shade as stated by the author of "Unusual Things of Koran (Gharaaeb Al- Koran)" is the medium thing between the pure shine and pure dark and it is the most fairness and best case because the pure dark is normally disliked and rejected by sense and the pure shine dazzles the sense and harms through heating".

As confirmed by the modern science, shade physically resulted from the rays falling on an obstacle and their light reduces on its falling place than the surrounding and the shade varies in its length in the opposite direction of the light source turning one. Shade, in nature, changes daily over the year. Dr. Karem Ghunaim, the head of Association for the Scientific Miracles of the Holy Koran in Cairo explained the reason of this change in shade is the rotation of the earth once daily during its rotation movement around its mother, the sun, which it, the sun, in turn rotates around itself in an inclined orbit.

The change in the appeared sun movement causes the movement of the falling shine's rays to change. This is followed by change in things. In other words, it doesn't still fixed or in the same manner. Shade stops only with the stop of earth rotation. If this occurs, the balance of earth around the sun shall imbalance and earth collides with the sun that makes its end.

Shade extension and shrinking lead to change in the heating and cooling degrees those are important for the execution of the atmospheric operations such as winds, clouds, rains, and others which are necessary for the world life.

From the movement of the shade, Muslims confirmed the roundness of the earth and they got information from what stated by the Almighty Allah: "Have you not seen how your Lord spread the shadow? If He willed, He could have made it still then we have made the sun its guide" {Al-Furqan (the Criterian) Verse: 45}.

This verse guided them that if shade over a movable body continually in front of a fixed light guide point, the sun, this means that this body is rotating and round?!!! Also, they said that the night that we see in the earth hemisphere is the shade of the earth face that is faces the sun on the other far earth hemisphere from the sun!!!

Muslims benefited from the shade movements during the day to know the prayer timing as it is connected with the sun rise and dip. Dawn (Fajr Prayer) time comes with the sunshine at morning when the sun locates under the eastern horizon with a certain amount. Noon (Zuhr Prayer) time come when the sun locates in the southern side or at its maximum rise in the day when the shade of the thing reached its minimum length. Afternoon (Assr Prayer) time comes when the shade of a thing equals the same length or double of the thing, in Hanafi Doctrine adding to it its shade at noon prayer time.

Evening (Maghrib Prayer) time comes when the sun disappears under the western horizon, while night (Ishaa Prayer) time comes with the disappearance of the twilight at night when the sun locates under the western horizon with a certain amount

Scientific resources pointed out that shade doesn't include comfort always, as there is a shade that includes torture as the almighty Allah said: "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns. Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." {Al-Mursalat (The Emissaries) Surah: verses: 30-31}. Explainers of the Holy Koran said that the shade of smoke that is faces the flame is neither shading nor use against the fierce flam. Because if the fire flame rises and smoke ascends with it, it shall have three columns, from its strength and force, and that the resulted smoke from the flame causes shades but they are full of hot winds and heat.

Shade has many types the best of them is the tree one because tree contains leaves those work as filter for the temperature so its shade is shading as confirmed by the scientific theories. Almighty Allah pointed out in his sayings: "But those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) and do deeds of righteousness, we shall admit them to Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), abiding therein forever. Therein they shall have purified wives (having no menses, stools, urine, etc.)], and we shall admit them to shades wide and ever deepening (Paradise). {An-Nisaa (The Women) Surah: verse 57}. This means that it is a full deep and good dense shade.

Tree shade for Muslim is a great thing because it is connected with the Paradise Ease which Almighty Allah promised his servant believers in his saying: "The description of the Paradise which the pious persons have been promised! Underneath it rivers flow, its provision is eternal and so is its shade, this is the end (final destination) of the pious and the end (final destination) of the disbelievers is Fire". {Ar-Raad (The Thunder): 35}

Almighty Allah, also, demonstrated that shade is the antithesis of the sun's heat in his honor saying: "Nor are (alike) the shade and the sun's heat." {Faatir (Orignator): 21}.Al-Tabari stated in his explanation of the verse: Sun's heat is only exists with the sun at day. Rauba Ibn Hajaj said Sun's heat exists in the day

Shade is associated with Allah's mercy on his servants in his Almighty saying: "Each group tribe knew its drinking place, and we caused the white cloud to overshadow them and sent down fro them the manna and quails" [Aaraf 160]. Ibn Kathier refers to cloud meaning the plural of cloud because it covers the sky or disappears and veils it and they are the white clouds which Almighty Allah shaded sons of Israel with to protect them from the sun's heat".

Shade prostrates itself to the almighty Allah as Koran scientists explains Allah's sayings: "Have they not observed things that Allâh has created, (how) their shadows incline to the right and to the left, making prostration unto Allâh, and they are lowly?" {Al-Nahl (48)} and they said every body such as tree, mountain, or other body "their shadows incline to the right and to the left" prostrates to the Almighty Allah. Al-Dhahak said: "their shadows incline to the right and to the left" means in morning and evening as shadows prostrate to the Almighty Allah at morning until shadow inclines and prostrate to Allah until evening. They said the shadow of a thing is its prostration and that the prostration of the believer's shadow is obedience while of the prostration of the unbeliever's shadow is disobedience. One of virtuous people said: if sun rose, everything had prostrated to the Almighty Allah, the prostration of the shadows of everything in heavens and earth. Shades are various as the almighty Allah said: "And Allâh has made for you out of that which He has created shades"{Al-Nahl (81)}.
